The picture
does not show our entire building that is located on a small hill near route 36
leaving Spencer. Our school was built in stages to accommodate the next
grade level to attend . The schools name was "Spencer Primary Center".
In 1982, a small school was built which would serve the area kindergarten
students. The computer lab, which is located downstairs, was our students
first cafeteria. First through eighth grade students attended school
at the old "Spencer Elementary School." The old building is now the Roane
County Committee on Aging building. This building is located near
Washington Park. In 1988, another section was built to hold our first
grade students, and construction continued for our second graders to follow in
1989. The plan for our school was to move third and fourth grade students
to this facility, as well. In 1991, the third and fourth grade students
came to our school. During this time frame we also added a pre-school class.
Our name was still "The Spencer Primary Center". At this time, our
enrollment was approximately 630 students. In the school year 2002-2003
our schools name was changed to "Spencer Elementary School". Our
enrollment has declined to about 535 students. We are the "Jaguars", and our school colors are sky blue and
silver.
Our school hopes to continue to grow and flourish. Thank you for visiting
and reading about our school. We are very proud of her!
